Why I'm Glad to See The Back of Summer, And You Should Be Too...

I've seen so many people moaning about the cold weather and posting bikini throwbacks to the summer months, and I just don't get it. I'm a winter baby through and through. Born in January, I'm very pale and subsequently not the best tanner, as you can imagine, so summer, as nice as it is, is not my time to thrive. For me, nothing beats chunky knits, big coats, layers and cosy nights in with festive smelling candles and red wine. I'm writing this post whilst in my (possibly slightly Christmas themed) onesie (for the first time this year!), whilst watching Stranger Things, of course, and I just couldn't be happier. I wanted to try and pull a post together with my top tips to make you all appreciate autumn and winter the way I do.

1. The Wardrobe.
I know the summer gives you cute little summer dresses, and festival season. But if I'm honest, I'm not a festival gal - I don't know if you can tell- and I'd much prefer to layer up an outfit and not have to worry about getting all hot and sweaty. Also. the colours, deep colours are so much better for me than the light pastel shades of the summer. Chunky cable knits, funky winter boots, and a killer seasonal coat, all get me very very excited. I struggle to believe. this isn't a mutual feeling across the fashion-lover world.... am I right? And I haven't even gotten on to talk about party season. Not that I need to say much. It's bloody fab.

2. The Make- Up.
That hot and sweaty feeling I just mentioned leads us nicely to point two. I dunno about you but I never feel comfortable wearing much make-up when it's hot and sunny, there's nothing worse than feeling, or catching a glimpse of your foundation sliding off your nose, and seeing the sunlight reflect off your forehead. Winter is the time when you can go for it with your make-up and not have to worry. Peace of mind that your make-up will remain on your face is a luxury to enjoy this time of year. And I almost forgot to mention the actual make-up. Party season, the glitter, the warm copper tones, the berry lips. I love a fresh faced look, but autumn winter make-up is the bomb.

3. Cosy Nights.
In the UK, great summer nights are few and far between. They are great while they last, but one thing we can rely on, is the cosy nights of winter. The UK will never fail to deliver on this front. For me there's nothing more appeal than cosying up at home in your pyjamas infront of the telly, with a hot bev-er-age, or maybe a cheeky glass of red. No weather permitting pressure, just comfort. Another contributor that I can't brush over is the candles. I'm openly obsessed with candles, and winter is when this comes into it's own. There's nothing better than warm spiced candles filling your home whilst you snuggle under a fluffy blanket and melt into a coma of junk food and laziness. BRB making hot chocolate ...

4. The Festivities.
Christmas is an obvious reason to love the colder months, but there's more to life. There's halloween (not everyones cup of tea, but can be fun), there's bonfire night, and then there's the whole Christmas build up. Even ifChristmas day isn't your thing. The build up is the best thing in the world. I walked through Manchester today to see those wooden huts being assembled and it filled me with joy and anticipation of that beautiful spiced mulled wine that is heading my way. There's no shame in drinking a mug of hot mulled wine in 63 layers of cosy clothing and a bobble hat. It's great.

I could expand on all of the above, so much so into it's each individual post, but I will stop there for now as winter hasn't technically even started yet. And I don't want to bombard you summer lovers (I know I'm in the minority going against you guys).  What's your favourite bit when it comes to the colder months? Surely you've gotta love it too!? Also, you guys know I'm ballin' on a budget, like most of us are if we're being real, so I wanted to address the fact that I bloody love my new bag, but all I'm saying is it was a blooming' bargain on a recent trip to Shanghai with work. All I'm saying. All I am saying. Peace out.
