January

As usual January was spent wearing in my Christmas presents and sale purchases, as it should be. January might feel like a downer but at least there is always new clothes in your life. I would still wear all of these outfits now, one year on, and still have all of these pieces in my wardrobe. Apart from the skinny jeans in the middle picture.. I think I'm well and truly off the skinny jean/ elastane denim bandwagon. Real denim is where I'm at now, and I think it's a good thing for my style.

February

For me February is worse than January. It seems to be the coldest time of the year. The whole 'fresh start' and resolution momentum has definitely died out (in my case anyway), and it still seems like a mammoth amount of time until summer, or even spring will show any signs of arriving. Plus I'm a January baby, and our month get's a lot of stick, so I've gotta vent somewhere. Anyway as you can see my style kinda reflected my mood of the month. Bland neutral colours, basic denim and nothing all too interesting going on in my wardrobe around this time of the year. I was definitely dressing for comfort

March

The Beast from the East hit us in March 2018, how could we possible forget the big freeze. So although March is typically associated with the start of Spring, it was quite the opposite, and my wooly hats were going no-where. I think this must have been when I discovered the Zara Mom Jeans in the Authentic denim range which I LOVE, as you can see I am wearing them in two out of three outfits here, and many more times through the rest of this post from here on in. And I'm actually wearing them as I write this. Money well spent on these bad boys.

April

Finally the snow melted and with that we actually got a really beautiful sunny start to Spring. I found the perfect mini-houndstooth style blazer , as well as my khaki shirt-jacket from Topshop which  quickly became my go to lightweight jacket throughout summer. I also braved the sleek middle-parting pony tail for the first time which I thought I could never pull off, but I now wear all the time as it's the easiest hairstyle and you can look put together even if you have greasy hair.

May

More great weather saw the return of my trusty Topshop Plisse culottes from 2017 which are the BEST for summer months. Obviously slogan t-shirts remained a key part of my wardrobe as they have been for the past few years. However reflecting now at the end of the year, I think I'm over that now. May was also the month I started to dabble in vintage clothing properly for the first time, and this Adidas T-shirt was the first gem I found. Definitely a pathway forward on the sustainability front.

June

Summer! My holiday wardrobe came out in June which you can see couple of Snaps of here. My love of true denim still prevailing, and I experimented with 80's vibes with the polka dot twist front top. And bloody loved it at that! The wicker bags took over the style-sphere this summer, and I contributed to that with this absolute bargain I bagged on eBay for my holiday. It's pretty fragile so I'm not sure how long it sill survive as a part of my wardrobe, but I think it will definitely re-appear re-styled next summer. And how could I forget about the colour pop that was Yellow. It was everywhere earlier this year, and I stepped out of my comfort zone to give it a try on Holiday teamed with my trusty culottes. Not too sure if it's something I would do again, but I liked it at the time, and that's what matters hey?

July

This was the mega-month of the heatwave in the UK. The hottest month I have ever lived through in this country, which meant I lived in this oversized T-shirt dress from Missguided. It's one of my best pieces of the year and will definitely be a returning staple next summer. The boxy fit is amazing, and I love the effortless vibe it gives off. I also finally re-purchased some new Birkenstocks, as my old ones were worn into the ground quite literally. I opted for the all white Arizonas which are a lot cheaper than the regular ones, and are super comfy and lightweight, I got so much wear out of them and will definitely be rocking them again next summer.

August

Not much going on, after all, it's the summer holidays, right? Is that a valid excuse when you aren't a student, or a teacher? Anyway, I was rocking the round metals as I have been the entire year, and layering up the satin slip dress which I still wear now, but is now more of a skirt underneath knitwear. Also I wore my all white Vans a lot this summer, for the second year running, and unfortunately they are now pretty worse for wear and I had to replace them with some more winter appropriate converse recently. But I love the while cheerleader vibe the all white vans have and they go with pretty much everything so I would definitely re-buy those in the future.

September

A busy time of year for me at work as I was sent to China for 2 weeks. Style wise I took another step out of my comfort zone and bought this hot pink knit from Bershka. I obviously teamed it with my trusty Zara jeans (I did warn you these would show up over and over again). And you can see my baby blue nike internationalists here which are probably one of my favourite new additions to my wardrobe this year. How cute are they?! They have such a nostalgic vibe with that chunky retro style, without being too chunky, you know what I mean? As I don't think that trend is for me.

October

During October Pretty Little Thing sent me a bunch of pieces ahead of the Black Friday madness, and in that was this Borg half zip which opened the flood gates to the cosy life I wanted to live for the rest of 2018. Borg has been huge this winter and it's a trend I LOVE and carried through from last winter. I also added some black converse to my collection for the first time, after seeing them styled up a lot and loving the effortless vibe they give to an outfit. Not to mention they are super comfy and versatile.

November

The theme of comfort first prevails, and layering is in full force. my favourite thing about winter is the layering, and this year more than ever, it has been vital as it just hasn't been that cold at all. Whoever says climate change isn't real needs to visit Manchester next December and tell me they aren't sweating buckets walking to the Arndale in their winter coat. Anyways, one of my favourite pieces of November is the off white mom jeans I found on the sale rail of H&M. Super cheap, and super different for me. But I was drawn to them like a moth to a flame and I think they're so cool if I fancy just wearing something a bit different. Oh of course, how could I not shout out my big Borg/cord jacket  of dreams from Topshop. If you follow my instagram, you'll probably be sick of seeing this as I've worn it almost daily since buying it in November. Definitely something that will be part of my wardrobe for many years to come.

 December

My knee high boots that are a good 4, or maybe even 5, years old now, made it back out of the wardrobe this month. And I can't lie, I still LOVE the silhouette and the shape of these. Unfortunately I Think they'll need replacing by next year as my feet tend to get pretty soggy if I get caught in the rain in these (not ideal), but I just can't face saying goodbye. The aviator jacket is also still in full force. The light has admittedly been stolen from it and placed on the newer Borg beauty, but the aviator is also still going strong in the background, and I imagine will still be in the start of 2019 too.

It's been pretty fun looking back on the year and taking the time to think about the things I still love in my wardrobe and re-discovering them. And also it's interesting to see the things that I wouldn't wear again. It's important to think about our purchasing habits in more depth, than I have typically done over the years, and I find this is a really useful tool to do so. And it's fun! Do you have a favourite outfit? Also do let me know what your key pieces of the year have been!
